MINISTRY PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE Our mission is to lift up Jesus Christ through song, minister to those searching for hope, and encourage the believers through harmonies and melodies that touch the soul.
CHOIR MEMBER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
Active members must attend every rehearsal and Sunday worship service unless excused for valid reasons i.e. Death in the family, Illness, Work, Prearranged absence. In the event that a member cannot make a rehearsal, please contact the Director or President as soon as possible prior to the scheduled rehearsal. Members that do not call to be excused from rehearsal are not permitted to participate in the choir on the subsequent Sunday.
Must be a born again believer and in good standing.
Must be a team member whose main purpose is to glorify God and create an atmosphere of harmony and love among the members of the music ministry.
Must be faithful in service.
Must abide by the bylaws as voted upon and set forth for guideline and directions.
Must be prompt at all engagements.
Encouraged to attend all regularly scheduled church functions when possible.
Star Rock Choir Members are asked to participate and/or contribute to any fundraising endeavors. A two-thirds (2/3) of the members may vote on any necessary issues.
CHOIR RULES / ETIQUETTE
Each member should be in proper attire for Sunday worship services. If you are unsure of the attire, please ask.
Unnecessary talking during choir rehearsals and Sunday Services is not allowed. Continued talking will result in a fine of $1. No walking or unnecessary talking during: Prayer, Scripture Reading, Sermon, Call to discipleship and Benediction. All members are asked to give their undivided attention and respect to the Director / Musician or whoever are teaching new songs or giving direction.
Gum chewing is not allowed during rehearsals, Sunday Services or any other church functions. No electronic devices i.e., cell phone, iPad, computer etc. during rehearsal or any other church function.
Choir dues are $5 for adults and $2 young adults and students. All choir members are responsible for keeping the choir stand clean. This means no candy paper, Kleenex, paper towel, writing paper or any other paper is to be left on the seat or floor. No type of debris of any kind should be left in the choir stand. This also applies to the church as a whole.
Duties and Responsibilities : Musicians/Director
Patient, tolerant, know music and ability to inspire singers. Select music that will uplift and bring glory to God.
Responsible for the selection of songs, how they are presented and individual to sing each.
Be versatile in selecting members to lead songs, while keeping in mind each singer’s ability.
Be prepared to add, delete and/or change songs and arrangements prior or during services at
the Pastor’s request.
Determine the length of practice time and frequency.
Responsible for the seating arrangement of choir members.
Be available for all choir practices and engagements when practical or possible. Inform the
President of all planned and/or emergency absences.
Attend all regularly scheduled church functions when possible.
President
Preside over all business meetings.
Responsible for the conduct of members when assembled.
Resolve conflict of interest situations among the members, as pertains to the choir.
Responsible for accepting or rejecting invitations from other churches in case of conflicting
times, dates and availability of members. The Pastor’s approval must be obtained PRIOR to
acceptance of any engagement as a choir unit.
Responsible for the cancellation and/or change of practice time/date, in coordination with the
Director, in the-event sufficient members are not available to attend rehearsal.
Attend all rehearsals and engagements if possible.
Insure that all rehearsals and meetings are preceded and terminated with prayer.
